Theater at Apollo

From its inception in the 1970’s Apollo Theatre employs the body, the voice, the mind and the heart, bringing to life the works of William Shakespeare and other classical playwrights. All participants have the possibility to engage in personal growth at each rehearsal. Our theatre is composed of professionally trained actors and directors, as well as amateur volunteers from the community. In this regard it is based on the same model used by the dramatists of Ancient Greece.

In 2003, we opened the Da Vinci Theatron with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

We always strive for aliveness in our acting, an actor’s commitment to the truth, and for clarity of language. We value a sense of play and essence, depth of expression, and of always finding ourselves in the living present, the lifeblood of the actor. We seek to rehearse and to present performances that inspire us to dig deeper into more prolonged states of self-awareness.
